In the publication of the Art Gallery’s collective catalog number 53 in January, curator Antonio Sanchez Castro published an article by the resilient illustration Mireia.
The Mireia resilient illustration is part of the Reluet cryptology collection. Where I rediscover what lies behind the vowels and consonants that play and give rise to a proper name that advances.
In each of the Reluet resilient works, I invite you to connect your own emotions and experiences, turning art into a vehicle for self-discovery and reflection.
RELUET, THE UNIVERSAL CODE OF RIVERS
Text by curator Antonio Sanchez Castro:
The work is part of the tradition of geometric minimalism, where formal simplicity and economy of elements lead to powerful symbolic expressiveness. The sharp and contrasting black lines build a structure that suggests dynamism and balance, while the red curves provide a softness that balances the composition. At the top, a yellow circle stands as a focal point, evoking the sun or a symbolic guide on the horizon.
This approach is reminiscent of the exploration of Russian constructivism, in the way in which artists such as El Lissitzky and Kazimir Malevich stripped the form of all narrative reference to endow it with universal meaning. Likewise, the work evokes the sensitivity of Joan Miró, where line and color acquire a poetic and evocative function.
The simplicity of the line is not a limitation, but a resource that invites the viewer to project their own interpretation.
