Looking for Patrons for MEMORIA UNDER WATER A Call for Artistic and Social Action

The short film “Memoria Bajo el Agua” is not only a work of fiction; it is a deep emotional journey that invites reflection on the uprooting and collective memory of those communities that have been submerged by the waters of the reservoirs, inviting us to listen to the voices forgotten in silence.

This film project was born from a Short Film Workshop at the Lo Carreró cultural centre in Montgai, where a group of creatives came together to give life to a narrative that touches the essence of what it means to belong to a place.

A Deep and Resonant Narrative

The story revolves around a woman who, trapped by the weight of her memories, visits the reservoir of her town every day, seeking a connection with her past. Her ritual of immersing herself in the water symbolises the attempt to recover what was lost, but also reflects the pain of uprooting and the internal struggle between the desire to forget and the need to remember. When her grandfather invites her to share a meal in memory of her mother, she faces a profound dilemma: participate in the life of the community or remain immersed in her solitude.

This short film addresses universal questions about identity, loss and resistance. It is a mirror that reflects the experiences of many families who, forced by outside decisions, were displaced, seeing how their homes became a symbol of oblivion.

At this crucial moment, to carry out this significant work, the team of “Memoria Bajo el Agua” Núria Companys Castro, Miquel Badia i Vendrell, Ricard Guiu Peiro and Jordi Herbera Dolcet, led by director Alfonso Gazitúa Gaete, calls on all lovers of cinema and stories that matter to actively support this project in an act of cultural resistance that works to give voice to the forgotten and raise awareness about issues of social and political importance. Art, especially cinema, has the power to open dialogues and foster empathy.
