Hello to all the listeners of La Plaza!
Today we are pleased to discuss a film project that addresses a topic of great social and emotional significance: “Memory Underwater.”This film is the result of a short-film workshop held at the Lo Callejón cultural center in Montgai and seeks to explore the lives of people who have been displaced by the creation of reservoirs. We will encounter realities that are often hidden, portraying how water can become a symbol of loss and uprooting.
What can you tell us about the plot of the short film?
The story centers on a woman who visits a reservoir every day, immersed in a search for her identity and lost memories. This protagonist symbolizes the inner struggles of many people who, like her, navigate between the past and the present. The plot is enriched by her interactions with her family and community, exploring themes such as grief, memory, and a sense of belonging.
Why is this project important in the current context?
“Memory Underwater” is not just a short film; it is a vehicle for reflection on social issues that affect us all. At a time when stories of displacement and unemployment are more relevant than ever, our film aims to give voice to these silenced narratives. We believe that art—especially film—can play a fundamental role in bringing these realities to light and fostering dialogue.
How can we help make this project a reality?
We are currently in the midst of a crowdfunding campaign on Verkami. Every contribution, large or small, will help us move forward with production and ensure that this story is shared with the world. We invite you to visit *Memoria bajo el Agua* on Verkami for more information and to join this noble cause.
A final message for the listeners?
We want to thank everyone around the world for the support you’ve given us so far and encourage you to continue joining us on this journey. Memory is a powerful reminder of who we are and where we come from, and each of us has a role to play in preserving this heritage. Thank you for listening to us at La Plaza and for being part of this adventure!
