Last Saturday in Agramunt, my book “Reluet: The Resilient Color” saw the light of day surrounded by friends, neighbors and hearts willing to dive. It was much more than a presentation; It was a reunion with my own story and an invitation to share this journey of art and resilience that today I want to summarize for those of you who could not be there.
Art as a transformation of pain
This book is a work of experimentation “simmered”, as our grandmothers did. It is born from a personal process marked by loss and reconstruction. My town, Miralpeix, and my ancestral home, Cal Teuler, were submerged under the waters of the Rialb reservoir in 1999, but I have learned that matter has memory.
As he told journalist Laia Pedrós for Diari Segre, “pain, like mud, can be transformed into a masterpiece of life.” Through painting, sculpture and the use of objects rescued from that house (doors, bricks or windows), I have built my own language to narrate what water could not erase.
The “River Ritual”
In a robotic world that does not allow us to stop and think, I wanted the presentation at L’Era de Torrons Vicens to be a necessary pause. It was not a conventional act, but a “River Ritual”:
- I had a deep dialogue led by journalist Meritxell Bernaus.
- We let ourselves be carried away by the music of Joan Carbonell, who performed pieces that accompany this trip.
- We shared a personalized experience by giving each attendee a river stone and a message sealed with my Visual Ultrasound.
We are rivers, not swamps
My message with Reluet is clear: “We were born rivers and we will die being rivers; we are singular rivers, not stagnant swamps.” The goal is for each person to find their authenticity and learn that, although life submerges us without warning, the key is not to resist the current, but to learn to flow.
Thank you to all of you who filled the space and shared the popular chocolate that closed the event. We continue moving forward, diving towards the origin to find our own answers.
Would you like to join me in this flow? The book is now available on Amazon.
