READ HER STORY
Painting The Origin

Life gave the artist the brushes to dance freely on stage again, your smile when discovering the work, and knowing that the history of her village is not forgotten under her pseudonym.

DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK:

The canvas was the artist’s first creation, metamorphosing her identity.

She understood that she had not lost her identity, but had raised it from the waters through artistic expression.

This abstract painting, ‘The First Painting 2009, Welcome,’ was created in 2009, after the death of her paternal grandfather, Josep.

She went to the storeroom, where she took a door from her beloved home, hidden under the dust. Her father, Josep Maria, split it into three parts, and she gave it new meaning, creating a bouquet of flowers with plaster and thick wire that symbolised her gratitude for all the years she lived in Cal Teuler with her family in the beautiful village of Miralpeix until she was thirteen.

Surprisingly, at that moment she was unable to give it a title or sign it; it was her father who signed it, as she was not yet aware of the 360-degree turn her life would take.

She only wrote her pseudonym and the following reflection:

“Imagination is the basis of many things, and our concerns take us into a world where perception, for a few moments, allows us to see what we don’t usually see around us.”

Years later, the artist reflected:

“Life is light.
Darkness is beauty.
I choose light.
No matter how many times I fall,
I will always get up with a smile.
I will never fall back into darkness.
I will seek out the light, no matter how difficult it may be.”
